Shifting our Perspectives: Strategies to Engage Fathers
Shifting our Perspectives: Strategies to Engage Fathers
Please join us to explore this essential topic with David Jones, Senior Program Specialist and Federal Project Officer in the Office of Head Start.
When it comes to engaging fathers, respectful, thoughtful, and intentional conversations enables practitioners’ to get to the heart of the matter. It is helpful to understand how our discipline, experience, and the societal prescribed definition of the fathers' role, informs and influences how we view fathers as viable options in support of their children’s care and development. This session helped participants revisit some of the systemic barriers preventing fathers' involvement, understand their hesitance and reticence in getting involved and help us see fathers in a different light. Practitioners had the opportunity to self-assess, and hopefully shift their understanding of the critical impact fathers can play in their children’s well-being when provided the opportunity.
Participants of this webinar were able to:
- Explain the rationale for engaging fathers.
- Identify and understand the father's role in children's care and development.
- Select and apply strategies and skills to support father engagement.
LMHCs & LSWs who attended this event will be eligible to receive 1.5 CE credits.
